Accused re-enacts crime scene under tight security in Angul
Days after Angul police recovered the decomposed body of a young woman from a forest, the main accused Bishu Gochhayat was taken to the crime site by the police on Sunday to demonstrate the events of the highly publicised murder and rape case.
Under heightened security, Bishu showed the authorities how he purportedly committed the crime. The girl working in a private company in Bhubaneswar was on her way home by a train when her journey was stopped mid-way due to a glitch in the train in Talcher.
Later, the victim took the accused’s auto-rickshaw to reach her home. However, the accused took her to a forest where he brutally raped and murdered her.
Capture and Investigation
As per police sources, the accused was arrested by Angul police following an extensive three-week manhunt. Angul police, utilising six special teams, eventually arrested him in Raigad in Maharashtra, where he was employed at a local factory.
Angul police eventually managed to nab the accused following the analysis of approximately 1,000 pieces of CCTV footage.
