The authorities of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur have debarred four medicos from the campus on charges of ragging a second-year student. 

The dean in charge of the medical college on Saturday informed about the punishment handed out to the students. While two students, who reportedly assaulted the second-year student, have been debarred from visiting the college campus for two months, two other students who had provided lifts to those senior students have been restricted from the college campus for one week. 

On February 9, a second-year MBBS student from Balasore was allegedly beaten up by two seniors. The victim, an inmate of the gents' hostel, was coming to his room from band rehearsals when two senior students assaulted him. He sustained injuries in his face and neck.

The matter came to light after the father of the victim MBBS student lodged a complaint with Baidyanathpur Police after learning about the incident. The family members also brought the matter to the notice of MKCG authorities, SP, and other officials through a social media post on X (Formerly known as Twitter).

The victim student had also reported the incident to the anti-ragging cell of the institution following which a probe was launched.
