Puri shocker! Tipsy man kills father for objecting to his liquor addiction

A man had to pay with his life for objecting to his son’s liquor addiction in Odisha’s Puri. The bone-chilling incident has been reported from Sanakanti village under Pipili block.

According to sources, the accused, who is addicted to alcohol, would come home in a drunken state every day. He would allegedly assault his parents and demand money to fulfill his addiction. There were frequent quarrels in the family as his parents were fed up with his liquor addiction.

As usual, he came home drunk late Wednesday night and got into a fight with his parents. Things took an ugly turn when he chased his parents holding an axe. 

Even as his parents tried to flee from the house to save their lives, the tipsy man managed to grab his father and dragged him back to the house where he hacked him to death.

On being alerted, local police rushed to the spot and detained the accused. The blood-stained axe was also recovered from the house. A case of murder has been registered and further probe is on, the police said.

The incident has sent a shockwave across the locality.
