Puri Srimandir

Public darshan of Lord Jagannath will be restricted for five hours in Puri Srimandir for the observance of the Bamana Janma Niti on Thursday. The darshan will remain closed from 5 pm to 10 pm. On the Bhadraba Shukla Dwadashi tithi, the Bamana Janma Niti is observed.

For this occasion, the Lord’s special rituals begin from the morning. Rituals such as Mangala Alati, Mailama, Tadapa Lagi, Gopala Ballabha, and others were in their final stages at the time of reporting.

On this day, as Bamana was born from Aditi, this Janma Niti is observed after the Dwiprahara Dhupa in remembrance of the occasion.

On this tithi, Lord Jagannath incarnates in his Bamana form. Once Chheka is taken to the Garbha Gruha, all subsequent rituals will be performed. The Bamana Janma Niti will be carried out by Puja Panda and other Sevayats. As these rituals are conducted in confidentiality, darshan will remain suspended from 5 pm to 10 pm.

Devotees may, however, continue to worship other deities within the temple premises, though entry to Lord Jagannath’s main sanctum will remain restricted. Devotees can also partake of Maha Prasad at the Srimandir.

Sunia Parba And Other Observances

Meanwhile, the Sunia Parba will be held today at Srinara (Royal Palace), where Gajapati Maharaj’s Devarchana will be performed. Goddess Kanak Durga will also be worshipped today.

Another Significance Of Bhadraba Shukla Dwadashi Tithi

On Wednesday, on Ekadashi Tithi, Lord Jagannath’s Parswa Paribartan Niti was conducted and completed late at night. This ritual marks the slumber period of the Chalanti Pratima of Lord Jagannath, where the idol turns while sleeping. Today, Lord Garuda’s Parswa Paribartan Niti will also be held.
