The processing of the huge amount of garbage dumped at the temporary transit station near Sainik School in Bhubaneswar will be completed within a month, informed Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra on Wednesday.

The Minister said that treatment of the garbage is being done to reduce the stinking smell and a permanent resolution of the matter will be done in the coming days.

According to Minister Mohapatra, less amount of garbage will be stocked at the temporary transit station in the coming days.

“A meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to bring a permanent solution to the garbage issue in the area,” said Mohapatra.

Following the direction of the Chief Minister, Mohapatra visited the temporary transit station near Sainik school today and took stock of the garbage management.

Subsequently, Minister Mohapatra informed that a contract has been signed by Indian Oil to set up a biogas plant by using the garbage dumped in the area.

“We have come here to review the situation to bring out necessary solutions for the garbage issue in the area. The treatment process of the garbage has already started so that less amount of garbage will be kept here and the stinking smell will be reduced to a great extent,” said Mohapatra.

“Efforts are underway to process the available amount of waste here within a month. Later, we will discuss a permanent solution with the Chief Minister. We have already discussed the matter with the concerned officials. We will bring a permanent solution soon,” he added.
