Bonai Police Station
In an unfortunate incident, a minor girl with her hands and legs tied was rescued in critical condition from a forest near the Basudihi area under the Bonai police station in Sundargarh district on Wednesday.
As per police sources, the victim is six months pregnant. She has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
It has been alleged that a youth from Gopinathpur village took the girl with him on September 7. He allegedly threw the girl by tying her hands and legs at Basudihi forest which is located three km away from the village.
Fortunately, some local people found the girl with her hands, and legs tied in the afternoon the following day. Subsequently, they rescued the girl in a critical condition and took her to the nearby hospital for treatment.
As per sources, the accused is a Gaon Sathi and he is currently on the run following the incident.
Police suspect that the accused might have tried to kill the minor girl as she was pregnant.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway and police are trying to nab the accused.
“The girl is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. She is six months pregnant and not able to speak anything right now. Hence, it was not possible to record her statement. We have started an investigation into the incident and effort is underway to nab the accused,” said Bonai SDPO Suraj Debata.
