Bengaluru Police have registered a case against a well-known travel vlogger from Odisha, Laba Hansda, following serious allegations tied to his girlfriend's recent death. Filed at the HSR Layout Police Station, the complaint comes from a brother of the deceased woman, sources said on Friday.
Hansda's girlfriend, originally from Bihar and residing in Bengaluru, is reported to have taken an extreme step and ended her life, allegedly by suicide, two days ago.
The brother alleged that his sister's discovery of Hansda's involvement with multiple women resulted in several heated arguments and emotional distress. These factors, according to the complaint, contributed to her decision to end her life. The woman had attempted to reach out to Hansda just before her death.
“Laba’s girlfriend was a bike rider, and her native place is in Bihar, but she was working in Bengaluru. They had been in a relationship for quite a long time. However, according to the complaint, the young woman came to know that Laba was involved with several other women. When she questioned him about it, the accused began to torture her repeatedly,” informed sources.
An unnatural death (U/d) case was registered in this connection, and a detailed probe has been initiated by police, which is underway.
Efforts by OTV to obtain a statement from Hansda were unsuccessful till the time of filing this report. He was contacted on multiple phone numbers used by him.
Notably, before starting his vlogging activities on the internet, accused Santali youth Laba was working in a roadside eatery as a hotel boy in Baripada town of Mayurbhanj district. He is a native of a tribal village under the Sarat police limits in the district.
