PM Modi’s adviser Tarun Kapoor reviews ring road and railway station redevelopment in Sambalpur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s adviser Tarun Kapoor, on Sunday, visited Sambalpur and reviewed the progress of several major projects in the district. During his inspection of Hirakud Dam, Kapoor examined works being carried out under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
Sources reported that officials briefed him that tender processes for multiple tourism development projects around Hirakud had been completed.
Kapoor advised authorities to draw up a clear timeline and begin execution at the earliest to transform the dam site into a prominent tourism destination.
The adviser also reviewed the Sambalpur Ring Road project, the redevelopment plan for Sambalpur railway station, and cultural heritage-based works at Bhima Mandali. He directed officials to ensure the timely implementation of these civic and infrastructure projects falling under the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation limits.
Later, Kapoor visited Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary and stressed the need for preparing a comprehensive master plan to develop it as one of the leading sanctuaries in India. He highlighted eco-tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community participation as core priorities for the plan.

Kapoor also assessed the ongoing industrial and mining activities of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC). He advised departmental officers to align these operations with the overall development objectives of Sambalpur and neighbouring areas.
Senior officials, including the Northern Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, District Collector, Superintendent of Police, Commissioner, senior forest officers, and the CMD of MCL, attended the review meetings.
