PM Modi lays foundation stone for new Rayagada Rail Division
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone for the new Rayagada Rail Division, which marks a significant milestone in enhancing train operations in the region, via video conferencing.
The Rs 107 crore worth Rayagada Railway Division is being set up with all modern facilities. The new division will feature a Divisional Control Office, eco-friendly staff accommodation, and modern facilities that will enhance railway operations across Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi.
With the arrival of this division, the state's railway operations are expected to experience a marked increase in efficiency. This development is poised to catalyze economic growth, influence demographic mobility, and accelerate regional advancement within Odisha.
After laying the foundation stone, PM Modi underscored Odisha's significant potential for international trade, supported by its expansive coastline and rich natural resources, with the blessings of Lord Jagannath. He also announced plans for new projects involving an investment of Rs 70,000 crore.
“Odisha is bestowed with all the rich natural resources with the blessings of Lord Jagannath. The state boasts an expansive coastline and beaches offering significant opportunities for international trade. Several development projects are currently underway, totaling to Rs 70,000 crore,” the PM revealed.
PM Modi also revealed the start of operations at seven ‘Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminals' (GCT) in Paradip. He stressed the importance of the Rayagada division in bolstering the development of southern Odisha.
“These initiatives will greatly benefit the tribal communities residing in the region,” the PM concluded.
The move will also boost connectivity and accelerate economic growth in southern Odisha, contributing to PM Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. PM Modi also inaugurated the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station, in company of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Newly appointed Governor Dr K. Hari Babu attended the mega event via video link while Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was present at the event site in Rayagada. This move has been met with excitement, particularly among residents of the erstwhile Koraput district.
“Every person in the region is excited about the upcoming rail division in Raygada. Not only will it ease the movement of passengers and parcels but also help bring an economic revolution in the region,” said Saraswati Sahu, a Rayagada resident.
The Rayagada Division aims to ensure seamless railway operations and boost efficiency throughout the state, contributing to the 'Connect India' initiative and enhancing economic growth in South Odisha. This is in line with the broader vision for a developed India.
