Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited Rayagada Railway Division project at 11 am today via video conferencing. Dignitaries including newly-appointed Odisha Governor Dr. K. Hari Babu, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and MPs and MLAs from the region will be present on-site.
Elaborate arrangements have been made with tents and seating arrangements for a vast number of people who are expected to witness the milestone achievement as residents in Rayagada as well as the adjoining area of Koraput are expected to benefit immensely from the project.
The establishment of the railway division is expected to improve the operational efficiency of railway services in the region while opening tourism and hence, economic benefits for people in the region.
“Every person in the region is excited about the upcoming rail division in Raygada. Not only will it ease the movement of passengers and parcels but also help bring an economic revolution in the region,” said Saraswati Sahu, a Rayagada resident.
The 107-crore worth Rayagada Railway Division is being set up with eco-friendly employee accommodations, and modern facilities.
The move is anticipated to enhance railway operations in Koraput, Rayagada, and Kalahandi, boosting connectivity and accelerating economic growth in southern Odisha, contributing to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and his initiative of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Meanwhile, the PM will also inaugurate several important railway infrastructure projects including the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station, in the company of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
