PM Awas Yojana survey to start from January 24 in Odisha; eligibility criteria updated
The government of Odisha is set to launch an extensive statewide housing survey on January 24 for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), informed Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Monday.
The Minister also stated that the upcoming survey will accommodate individuals who have separated from their families, such as sons living apart from their parents or wives living independently from their husbands. Additionally, those who have previously applied but are still awaiting allotment are encouraged to reapply.
Further, ease of application has been introduced with eligible beneficiaries able to apply for availing the PMAY benefits through both offline and online platforms, with the online portal going live on the launch day.
“People can apply for availing of the scheme themselves through the Panchayat or a mobile application. This time, we have updated the eligibility criteria and also removed application fees to ensure maximum registration among eligible beneficiaries,” said Rabi Narayan Naik.
The survey will run for six to eight weeks, potentially increasing the number of houses from two crores to three crores, significantly benefiting residents in Odisha. The state-wide survey aims to account for all eligible residents, who were initially left out, to secure housing support.
