Passenger train derails in Puri, no casualty reported

Two bogies of a passenger train got derailed at Puri Railway Station on Tuesday. As per reports, the last bogie of the Puri-Gunupur jumped the tracks while reversing.

Sources said that a major tragedy was averted as the Puri-Gunupur passenger train was reversing after de-boarding the passengers at the railway station when the bogie got derailed.

An accident relief team is expected to reach the accident site soon for carrying out necessary evacuation and repair works. Senior officials are also at the spot and supervising the efforts.

Earlier, three coaches of the Puri-Howrah express derailed near Malatipatapur station near Puri while the train was on its way to Puri on October 22, 2022. There were no passengers in the coach when the mishap took place then.
