Panchayat Supply Assistant held for raping widow, circulating MMS

A Panchayat Supply Assistant was arrested on the charges of raping a widow and circulating her private video at Budula panchayat under Agalpur block of Bolangir district. The accused has been identified as Girishchandra Sahu.

Based on a complaint by the widow, police registered a case and arrested Sahu who was on the run.

According to sources, Girish is currently engaged as a Supply Assistant at Budula panchayat. He lured the widow on the pretext of giving her PDS rice and allegedly outraged her modesty. Since then, he had been raping her on several occasions and had even recorded videos of their intimate moments.

The matter came to the fore after the woman attacked him with slippers for allegedly circulating her MMS. A video of the woman beating him with slippers had gone viral on social media platforms. Since then, the accused had been on the run.

On Monday, police managed to nab the accused and forwarded him to court. Further probe into the incident is on, police said adding the accused is booked on the charges of rape and circulating intimate video.
