NIA team in Cuttack for probe into Pahalgam Terror Attack; interrogates family who survived deadly attack

In a significant development linked to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Cuttack to question a local family that narrowly escaped the deadly ambush.

Sources confirmed that the NIA team has interrogated Ranjit Bhola, a resident of Cuttack, along with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, after their presence near the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam at the time of the attack raised investigative concerns.

According to reports, Ranjit Bhola, his wife, son, and daughter-in-law were on a sightseeing trip in Kashmir and had visited the popular tourist destination of Baisaran. The family was reportedly clicking photographs and recording videos when they suddenly heard gunshots, sending panic among tourists in the vicinity. 

Eyewitnesses say bullets were fired in the air, creating chaos and fear. Nearby tourists were seen running for cover in different directions.

A three-member team of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) met the family members of Ranjit Bhoi of Cuttack, who survived the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Ranjit’s wife had sustained multiple injuries during the terror attack.

Sources said that the NIA team has got crucial information regarding the four terrorists, as earlier claimed by the Cuttack family, who had survived the terror attack.

It is sources said that the NIA team also showed pictures of the terrorists, who are suspected to be behind the attack. Similarly, Ranjit Bhoi’s family had earlier claimed that the terrorists had shot dead three persons in front of their eyes.

Given their proximity to the scene, the NIA is treating the Bhola family as crucial eyewitnesses. Investigators have reportedly asked the family for any photos or video footage captured during the incident, which may help identify suspects or provide evidence of movements leading up to the attack.

The presence of Odisha residents so close to the attack site has brought national attention to Cuttack. Officials from both local police and central agencies are coordinating on this sensitive matter as the NIA deepens its probe into the case.

The NIA has not released an official statement yet, but sources indicate that more individuals may be called in for questioning if new leads emerge from the materials collected.
