Devotees across the globe visit Puri in large numbers on a daily basis to have 'darshan' of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities- Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra in Puri Srimandir.

However, after the closure of three 'dwaras' (doors) of the ancient shrine except 'Singhadwara' (Lion Gate) by the Odisha government since the outbreak of Covid-19, the devotees were facing a lot of difficulties in the smooth darshan of the Holy Trinity. A large number of devotees had to wait for a long time standing in long queues to have the darshan of the deities.

In response to the development, devotees, servitors of Srimandir and local residents had expressed their resentment. Despite their repeated demands to open all four 'dwaras' (doors) of Srimandir, the government was not paying any attention to their pleas.

However, after coming to power, the BJP government decided to open all the entrances of the shrine in its first Cabinet meeting on Wednesday night. Subsequently, all the doors were opened on Thursday morning after 'Mangala Alati' ritual in presence of the Chief Minister, Council of Ministers and other leaders.

The devotees, servitors of Srimandir and researchers of Jagannath culture are ecstatic and they are on cloud nine following the development.

"It's a moment of ecstasy. Devotees have been eagerly waiting for the opening of Puri Srimandir for a long time. All four dwaras (doors) were opened today after the 'Mangala Alati' ritual. It's not only an auspicious moment for Odisha, but also for the whole country," said Padmanabha Tripathy, a researcher of Jagannath culture.

"We had been demanding the opening of Puri Srimandir for a long time. Apart from devotees across the globe, even the residents of Puri were facing hardships for darshan of Lord Jagannath due to the huge rush. All the doors have different significance and different people enter the temple through different doors to honour spiritual traditions. We are very much pleased that all the doors of Srimandir opened today," said Prafulla Chandra Mishra," another researcher of Jagannath culture.

"We just can't express our feelings today. Our ecstasy is beyond expressions. We have been waiting for the opening of all the dwaras for a long time and now it has been materialised by the BJP government. The development will facilitate smooth and convenient darshan of devotees across the globe," said a devotee.
