A large number of candidates who have been shortlisted for the posts of Field Assistant Grade- II and Grade- III staged a dharna in front of the Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) office on Thursday alleging irregularities in the medical test.

As per reports, candidates who have cleared the written examination for the posts of Field Assistant Grade- II (Sectional Supervisor) and Field Assistant Grade- III were called for document verification, medical test and physical endurance (walking) test. The medical test which commenced yesterday (February 28) will continue till March 1.

On Wednesday, medical tests were conducted for 200 candidates. However, some candidates alleged that there were irregularities in the selection process. While some of them cleared the medical test initially, they were allegedly declared unfit later.

“Following publication of the merit list, the medical test was scheduled for February 28 and the selected candidates were scheduled to go to the ground the next day on Feb 29 at 5:30 am. However, while unfit aspirants were allowed to go to the ground, we are sitting here at the OFDC office gate,” alleged a protesting aspirant.

He further said, “A CDMO or a Superintendent ranked officer should be present during the medical test. If a medical test is done without the supervision or sign of a medical officer, then the test does not have any meaning. It is invalid.”

Speaking to reporters on the allegations, OFDC General Manager Sukanta Behera said, “The aspirants deemed unfit for the job have submitted a grievance requesting to conduct the test again. The Management discussed their grievance and decided to allow them another medical test who failed the first medical test.”

“The medical test includes height and chest expansion. If anybody passed the repeat test then they will surely be considered for the job,” Behera added.
