Odisha witnessed 'industrial desert' scenario under BJD govt: Industries Minister

Things are changing fast under the new BJP government and the upcoming Utkarsh Odisha Conclave will stimulate growth in every sector in the state, said Minister Swain on Monday.

Despite vast potential and natural resources, the overall industrial growth in Odisha was stagnant, a situation similar to 'industrial desert' that persisted for nearly two decades under the previous state government’s tenure, said Industries Minister Sampad Swain on Monday.

Things are changing fast under the new BJP government and the upcoming Utkarsh Odisha Conclave will stimulate growth in every sector in the state, said Minister Swain on Monday.

Terming the Utkarsh Odisha conclave as a revolutionary and historic milestone for the region, the Minister expressed confidence that the conclave will inspire industrialists to invest in Odisha, stimulating growth across every district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Utkarsh Odisha conclave in Bhubaneswar on January 28 (Tuesday).

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave is a unique thing and shows his commitment to ensuring all round development of the state. Despite being rich in mineral resources, there was dearth of industries in Odisha during the previous government’s tenure,” said Swain.

'Make In India' was the brain child of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Utkarsh Odisha Conclave will open new doors for industrial revolution. Odisha government is committed to creating an eco-system for industries in the state, the Minister said.

A New Era for Industry

The Minister also predicted an impending industrial revolution, aligning with the government’s objectives to achieve industrial affluence. With sessions covering 16 distinct sectors, the conclave is expected to see signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to attract investments.

Industries are keen to funnel investments into Odisha, promising to create numerous employment opportunities and drive economic development within the state.
