Odisha is set to host the ‘Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave’, an ambitious investment summit that promises to draw participation from both Indian and international companies, including hundred from the FORTUNE 500 list, sources said on Wednesday.
This biennial event aims to attract investments in sectors such as information technology, renewable energy, textiles, chemicals, and food processing. Odisha government anticipates attendance from approximately 5,000 industry leaders.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be at the forefront of the event, also set to celebrate the accomplishments of 60 entrepreneurs under the age of 40 from across the State. This marks first-time recognition at the conclave, spotlighting young business minds that have made substantial contributions in their fields over the past few years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the summit on January 28 at 11.00 AM, and the event will unfold over two days featuring at least 15 focused sessions. These discussions aim to explore opportunities and tackle challenges within various sectors.
Odisha Industries Secretary Hemant Sharma highlighted the targeted sectors for investment during a press briefing. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Council is scheduled to conduct five preliminary sessions on January 27, laying the groundwork for the main event.
“Hundred out of the ‘Fortune 500’ companies have been invited. Basically, we will focus on five key sectors for the State such as information technology, renewable energy, textiles, chemicals, and food processing,” the Industries Secretary stated.
“We have shortlisted 60 young entrepreneurs, representing two from each district, who will be felicitated on the valedictory ceremony, for the first time,” the Industries Secretary added.
