Odisha, the land of Lord Jagannath, is one of the richest mineral source states in the country. Three states- Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand produce and supply more than two-thirds of base metal demand of the country, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi while addressing the 3rd National Mines Ministers’ Conference on January 20-21 at Konark.

The Ministry of Mines, in collaboration with the Government of Odisha, is hosting the 3rd National Mines Ministers’ Conference on January 20-21 at Konark. The conference will provide a platform for State Mining Ministers, senior government officials, and stakeholders to discuss critical mining sector strategies.

According to Majhi, Odisha is right described as ‘Purvodaya’ by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and these three states will fuel the growth, and Odisha will play a major part.

“Minerals are finite and cannot last forever. We have to find a way of consumption-led mining activities from the present export-led mining. This can be achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Keonjhar is the pride of Odisha with abundant mineral reserves that have significantly contributed for the development of state and country. Every corner of Odisha is rich in mineral resources and for which it is the treasure trove of natural wealth,” said CM Majhi.

Odisha’s contribution to India’s economic prosperity is unparallel. There is a possibility of the much-needed and scare Lithium reserve which will be good for the e-battery industry. Unfortunately, till now, the true potential of Odisha has not been found due to many reasons including political will. All these things are going to change for the betterment of the people of the state.

“From just one major steel plant in Rourkela, Odisha boasts of three dozens of steel plants and is rightly called as the steel capital of India, accounting for nearly 25 percent of India’s total steel output. With a project growth in annual steel production, the state’s steel output is expected to increase substantially by 2030. To accelerate industry’s development, numerous investments, schemes are being implemented by the Odisha government,” CM Mohan Majhi said.
