The Bahanaga train mishap in Balasore is one of the deadliest train accidents in the country in which 288 persons lost their lives and over 1000 were injured.
At present, 111 passengers from various states, including West Bengal, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha are undergoing treatment in various departments of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Around 20 passengers are also being provided necessary treatment in ICUs of various departments in SCB, informed administrator, Abhinash Rout.
Rout informed that of the 111 passengers, 23 are from Odisha, 32 from Bihar, 45 from West Bengal, 7 from Jharkhand and one each from Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Nepal. All of them are undergoing treatment at Surgery, Orthopedics, Plastic surgery and other departments of SCB.
“20 patients are admitted in ICUs, including 9 in Central ICU and 8 in trauma ICU and their condition is stable. The identity of one passenger undergoing treatment in ICU has been ascertained,” said Rout. According to Rout, 63 passengers have also undergone surgeries at the hospital.
“All efforts are on to provide the best treatment to the injured passengers of the train tragedy so that all of them recover at the earliest,” he added.
