Low pressure over Bay of Bengal prompts rainfall alert in Odisha. IMD Bhubaneswar predicts moderate rain in 19 districts, impacting coastal, southern regions.

Odisha to witness rainfall for next 2 days

The low pressure area formed over south Bay of Bengal has become active and under its effect, several parts of Odisha are likely to experience rainfall over the next two days.

Bhubaneswar Regional Center of India Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to medium rainfall in several parts of the State. The Met department has issued alert to as many as 19 districts of southern, coastal and interior parts of Odisha. Some places in the districts will witness rainfall during the period.

As per the prediction by the Meteorological Department, some parts of coastal Odisha may experience rainfall today. Apart from the 19 districts of southern, coastal and interior parts of Odisha, one or two places in the districts like Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj will also experience medium rainfall.

The cold wave condition, that has been sweeping the State for the last few days, has subsided a little bit due to the probability of rain. The temperature has increased by three to five degree Celsius. However, the chilly weather condition will again return to Odisha after four days.

As per the Meteorological Department, though the low pressure will have no direct impact on Odisha, it will bring rainfall to the State. Farmers have been advised to be careful as the unseasonal rain may affect their paddy and Rabi crops.
