With a Low-Pressure Area formed over the southern Bay of Bengal (BoB), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar on Thursday forecasted light rain or thundershower in several Odisha districts till the morning (8.30 Hrs) of December 22.
In its evening bulletin, the IMD regional centre said, “Very light rainfall has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam and Koraput of South Coastal Odisha and South Interior Odisha and dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha. Dense fog has occurred at one or two places over the district of Kandhamal and shallow fog has occurred at one or two places over Sundargarh district of Interior Odisha.”
When contacted, the regional centre chief Manorama Mohanty said, “Rainfall activities are likely to continue till December 22 morning. Several Odisha districts will witness either light rain or thundershower during the next three days.”
Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of December 20)
Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Angul, and Boudh and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha. Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Kandhamal , Kalahandi, and Sundargarh
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of December 20 to 0830 hrs IST of December 21)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri and at a few places in the districts of Coastal Odisha
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of December 21 to 0830 hrs IST of December 22)
Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
