Odisha STF launches statewide crackdown on inter-state drug syndicate

The Odisha Crime Branch Special Task Force (STF) has launched a massive crackdown on an inter-state drug syndicate. For the past two days, marathon raids have been underway across the state, following strict directives from the government.

From marijuana to synthetic drugs, the STF is intensifying its action, working in close coordination with police from other states. All district SPs are leading raids in their respective areas while officers in civil uniforms have been deployed in markets, shops, and slums to track illegal activities.

Acting on the instructions of the DGP and the DGP (Crime), the STF has initiated a special operation targeting drug hotspots. 

In its effort to dismantle the network, the STF is also maintaining close coordination with national agencies such as the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), sources said.

STF officials revealed that although the public crackdown began recently, raids have been ongoing for the past 15 days and will continue until the syndicate is completely dismantled.

“Since the last 15 days, we have been carrying out raids across the state. We have seized, brown sugar, cough syrup; and have also kept an eye on the interstate drug peddlers,” said Rabi Satpathy, STP SP.
