Odisha Shocker! Woman killed by own sister for money, 7 arrested in Sundargarh

In a deeply unsettling incident reported from Odisha’s Sundargarh district, a woman was brutally killed by her own sister over minor financial transactions. Not just her sister, the accused woman along with her accomplices also killed a businessman, her deceased sister was working for, over the money, police said.

The matter came to the fore after the two bodies were recovered from two separate locations – the first in Chandiposh and the second in Kutra. After four days of extensive investigation, police have arrested as many as seven accused including the woman, who is believed to be the mastermind of the double murder.

Since the outset of their investigation four days ago, teams from the Sundargarh and Rourkela police have been pursuing leads through raids across various locations. Police are investigating from multiple angles and the investigation team has also confiscated objects that are believed to be the murder weapons, and efforts are underway to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The police continue to identify potential connections in the case and ensure that they are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. The investigation, they say, remains a priority as they plan to recreate the crime scene meticulously.

When contacted Brijesh Kumar Rai, IPS, posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range said, “The deceased woman is the sister of the main accused woman, who is also the mastermind of both the murders. Our investigation started after the bodies were recovered in two different locations. We later learnt that the deceased woman was working in the businessman’s office.”

“During the probe, we learnt that a tiff broke out between the two sisters over some financial transaction. So, she kidnapped her own sister and killed her and the businessman and dumped their bodies in two separate places,” Rai added.
