It seems that the Opposition parties, including the BJP and Congress, are not leaving any stone unturned to corner the ruling BJD government post assassination of health minister Naba Das.

The BJP on Tuesday targeted the Odisha government over deterioration of the law and order situation in the state. BJP spokesperson, Sonali Sahu alleged that, “Only after High Court’s order, police is taking steps to register complaints. If in every matter police is taking steps after High Court’s intervention, then there is no need of the government here.”

Citing the Mahanga double murder case, Sahu said it was only after the High Court’s intervention, police took steps on the allegations against a senior and influential BJD leader.

The Student wing of Congress also raised questions on the ongoing crime branch investigation into the murder of Naba Das.

“In the sensitive case, CM Naveen Patnaik, MoS Home is silent and the 5T secretary VK Pandian who is at the forefront on other issues is yet to speak on the transparency of the probe,” said Student wing President Yasir Nawaz.

According to Nawaz, the investigation is not progressing on the right track as the Odisha Police ASI is involved in the murder of Naba Das.

“We are demanding SIT probe in the Naba Das murder case and resignation of CM Naveen Patnaik,” Nawaz added.

Responding to the allegations levelled by the Opposition parties, ruling BJD leader Sashi Bhusan Behera said, “Law and order is a sensitive issue as it concerns the common man. The state government is always taking necessary steps and action in case of sensitive incidents when they happen. There have been no lapses as far as investigation is concerned.”
