The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, released the first selection merit list for Plus 2 e-admissions 2025–26 on Monday. Out of 4,46,205 total applicants, 4,13,804 students have been selected in the first round, reflecting an impressive 92.75% selection rate across the state.
Among all institutions, Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School, Cuttack, has emerged as the top preference across Odisha, registering the highest cut-off marks in the Arts, Science, and Commerce streams.
The prestigious Ravenshaw HSS topped the cut-off charts in:
Commerce: 80.20%
Arts: 81.33%
Science: 91.83%
Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar HSS, Bhubaneswar, and Government HSS, Rourkela, followed closely in all three categories. In Commerce, BJB recorded a cut-off of 89.40%, while FM HSS in Balasore had 87.50%. In Science, Government HSS, Rourkela secured the second-highest cut-off at 78.67%.
The stream-wise selection numbers show Arts dominating:
Arts: 2,64,766
Science: 1,17,089
Commerce: 20,552
Upashastri: 6,811
Vocational: 4,586
Meanwhile, a total of 32,401 applicants remain unselected in this phase. However, they can still participate in the upcoming Second Selection and Spot Admission rounds.
With the first list now out, here are the next crucial steps:
July 8–14 (up to 6 PM): Reporting and admission for First Selection applicants at respective Higher Secondary Schools.
July 8–15 (up to 6 PM): Admission data updation and error correction by schools in SAMS e-Space.
July 9–15 (up to 6 PM): Students admitted in the first round may submit slide-up requests for better preferences.
July 21 (by 3 PM): Second Selection Merit List to be published.
July 23–28: Reporting and admission for Second Selection applicants.
July 30: Choice locking for Spot Admission opens in Student Login.
August 1: Last date for submitting choice for Spot Admission.
August 7: Publication of Spot Selection list.
August 8–13: Admission and data update for Spot Selection applicants.
July 24: Commencement of Class XI across Odisha.
The DHSE has advised students and guardians to regularly check the SAMS Odisha portal (www.samsodisha.gov.in) for updates and ensure timely action to confirm their admissions.
