Barbaric! Odisha man hangs parrot to death for pecking black gram, shares video on social media 

A 25-year-old man from Naktideul area in Athmallik, Angul has been arrested for allegedly hanging a parrot to death and sharing the disturbing video on social media.

The accused has been identified as Baiga Pittli.

According to sources, the accused committed the act because the bird had eaten black gram from his agricultural land. The video went viral, drawing widespread attention and leading to his arrest.

According to Athmallik Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Santosh Kumar Koppula, the accused was tracked down using his mobile number, which was available on social media. 

The accused will be presented in court today, Koppula informed.

Authorities suspect that more people were involved in the incident. The Forest Department has launched a search to arrest other individuals involved in the case.

“A rose ring parakeet was killed by the youth and he has admitted that other people were also involved in the act. The accused will be forwarded to the court and further investigation into the matter is on,” Koppula informed.
