With a bullet lodged in his arm, a man from Rajnagar area in Kendrapara district lived for five years till December 15 when a team of doctors operated out the bullet.
As per a report, Bichitra Mallik had an enmity with some miscreants. On the fateful night of September 22, 2017, Bichitra was crossing the Rajnagar bridge when the miscreants, who had been hiding near the bridge, opened fire at him and fled from the spot.
Bichitra was found in a pool of blood in a senseless state. He was immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital for better treatment.
After undergoing treatment for three months, he was discharged from the hospital.
Meanwhile, five years have passed. One day he felt acute pain in his arm and the pain continued. He consulted a doctor who advised him to get an X-Ray done. The X-Ray report confirmed a bullet remained stuck in his arm.
Then he consulted doctors at the SCBMCH. On December 15, a team of doctors operated out the bullet.
“Two years after my treatment, there was a swelling on my hand. Consulting doctors, I took some medicines and the swelling was controlled. One month ago, I felt the swelling again. It was painful. I first visited Rajnagar CHC and then SCB Medical College and Hospital. The doctors operated the bullet out,” said Bichitra.
In this case, the police had then arrested two persons identified as Ajay Bal and Braja Sahu.
