In a startling event that has left the people of Odisha’s Bolangir district in shock, a man reportedly ate a live cobra while under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred in Tentulikunti village, located under the jurisdiction of Tushura police station, Odisha.

Sources indicated that the individual, a 50-year-old man, consumed the venomous snake and subsequently became critically ill. His family swiftly transported him to Tushura Hospital, before he was admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College Hospital in Balangir for further treatment. 

The man has since recovered and returned home. Despite the peculiar nature of the event, those in the village and their relatives remain tight-lipped over the incident.

The incident is reminding of an incident when a labourer named Santosh Lohar was working overnight on laying railway tracks in Rajauli, Bihar.

While sleeping, he was bitten by a snake. Instead of panicking, he grabbed it, bit it back—as per local belief that doing so twice cancels out the venom—and killed the snake.
