Mutts demolished for Puri Srimandir Parikrama project
In good news for the culture enthusiasts in the state and devotees of Lord Jagannath, the Odisha government has decided to rehabilitate the mutts demolished on the pretext of the Srimandir Parikrama project in Puri during the tenure of the previous government.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Friday informed that as many as 19 mutts in the Holy City will be rehabilitated, and the process in this regard has already started.
According to the Minister, all the mutts will be constructed at one place so that it will be convenient for the devotees to visit the holy places. Land for the mutts has already been identified.

"Process for the rehabilitation of as many as 19 mutts, demolished due to the Srimandir Parikrama project in Puri has already started. It has been decided that the mutts will be rehabilitated at one place so that it will be convenient for the devotees to visit those holy places. The place has been identified, and it will be made encroachment-free soon," said Minister Harichandan.

"It will also be easy for the mutts to offer various services to Srimandir if those will be rehabilitated at one place. The matter has been reviewed twice in the presence of the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), District Collector, and the Endowment Commissioner. Process in this regard will start soon," said the Minister.
Notably, several culture enthusiasts and devotees of Lord Jagannath had expressed their concerns over the demolition of many ancient mutts on the pretext of Srimandir Parikrama project in Puri.
