Odisha government will generate as many as 75,000 jobs in various sectors within two years, announced Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
This announcement brings promising prospects for the State’s numerous job seekers amidst concerns over unemployment. The plan also includes filling 20,000 vacant teaching positions.
“A total of 75,000 jobs across various sectors will be generated in the State within two years and the process in this regard has already been started. A total of 20,000 vacant teaching positions will also be filled up. The process will be conducted in a transparent manner,” said CM Majhi.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by Naveen Patnaik for the past 24 years, has faced criticism over the lack of developmental efforts despite their long tenure.

Majhi highlighted the lack of basic infrastructure in many villages of Odisha. He pointed out that several communities are yet to receive essential services including water supply, while some schools operate with only one teacher or none at all.
Under the circumstances, the recruitment of additional teachers, alongside the employment drive in other sectors, is seen as a crucial step to enhance educational standards and provide job opportunities for young individuals.
“There are many villages that lack basic infrastructure. There are also many areas yet to receive essential services including water supply. Some schools in the State still operate with only one teacher or none at all and they don’t have proper infrastructure,” said CM Majhi.
According to Majhi, the government has already started the initiative for the employment process. Majhi described this initiative as a ‘historic’ move towards reducing unemployment and stimulating development in the region.
“Earlier, it was difficult to meet and discuss with the Chief Minister. It was a dream for a common man to meet the Chief Minister with his grievance and expect solutions to their problems. After the new government came to power, thousands of people are meeting the Chief Minister and informing him about their grievances,” said CM Majhi.
However, the BJD is yet to provide a counter-statement to Majhi’s observations about the former government’s performance.
