The Odisha government has ramped up its efforts against corruption, initiating legal proceedings against 50 officials over the past eight months. The Vigilance department has taken action against these 50 individuals on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said in a written statement in Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Of the cases brought forward, convictions have been secured in 13 instances, though nine have led to acquittals, highlighting the ongoing judicial process.
Currently, there are 3,692 vigilance cases are pending, demonstrating the extensive measures being taken to tackle corruption by setting up 22 Vigilance courts.
