Odisha fisherman rescues ‘spy’ pigeon with number tag in Kendrapara
An Odisha fisherman caught a suspected 'spy pigeon' while fishing at Jambhu village under Mahakalpara block in Kendrapara district. The fisherman Ratan Das was fishing in the deep waters when the pigeon from nowhere flew into his boat.
Assuming it to be in trouble, the fisherman saved the pigeon and brought it home. However, villagers were stunned to see a tag ‘CHN-19-2024’ tied to its leg. Moreover, another number 988822 was also written in another tag.
This raised suspicion that the pigeon might be a ‘spy’ from some country. Sensing trouble, the fisherman later handed over the pigeon to the local forest officials. Preliminary reports suggest that the forest officials have kept the tags while the pigeon was released into the wild.
It is suspected that the pigeon might be sent from China or Bangladesh.
