Diarrhoea outbreak in Bhubaneswar
More than 150 people have been affected due to diarrhoea outbreak in Ward No. 13 of Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, several affected patients are currently receiving treatment at the local government health centre, with others being treated at the Capital Hospital.
A health department team has reportedly reached the spot and they are currently conducting thorough investigations to assess the prevailing situation. Officials have confirmed the outbreak of diarrhoea in the area.
Residents suspected that the outbreak of the contagious disease might be linked to contaminated water in the sump tank in the area. They alleged that the water in the tank contains impurities such as mud, cement, unprocessed materials, and wood.
"As the local residents are claiming that there is diarrhoea outbreak in the area for the last 20 days, the health team has been deployed for the last three days. More than 100 people have been affected by diarrhoea in the area. We are providing treatment to the affected patients. Serious patients are being referred to the Primary Health Centre. Those who are in critical condition are being referred to the Capital Hospital," said a health official.

"According to the local people, diarrhoea outbreak has occurred in the area after consuming water from the sump tank which has been contaminated. As per the prevailing symptoms found in the patients, diarrhoea outbreak has been confirmed. Affected patients are mainly suffering from loose motion, vomiting and abdominal pain. Following treatment, health conditions of many patients have developed," she added.
