While several children in the interior pockets of Odisha are reportedly deprived of education due to various reasons including lack of resources, a Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) in the State has been accused of selling textbooks to a scrap dealer.

The incident has been reported from Deuli area in Khordha district.

According to sources, Deuli CRCC, identified as Manoranjan Mishra, was apprehended by the villagers while he was allegedly selling textbooks during summer vacation.

Mishra reportedly sold books meant for Class 1 to 8 students which weigh around three quintals, sources informed, adding that, he even beg an apology for his actions.

Fumed over the CRCC’s act, the irate villagers drew the attention of the senior authorities over the matter.

“I got a call from the Deuli CRCC and he informed me that he had been detained by the villagers. When I reached his office, I found the allegations of villagers are true. We informed the Block Education Officer about the incident and the CRCC has confessed to his act,” said the block vice chairman.

Till the last report came in, the CRCC’s office has been sealed by the district administration and he has been placed under suspension.
