In the case of surrogacy, the state government has announced maternity leave of 180 days and paternity leave of 15 days to government female and male employees respectively.
While the central government has already provided such leave to central government employees (as per the notification dated June 18, 2024) the state government came up with the announcement on Thursday.
In the case of a child begotten through surrogacy, a surrogate mother who is a state government employee with less than two surviving children will be eligible to avail 180 days of maternity leave.

Similarly, a commissioning mother who is a state government employee with less than two surviving children will be eligible to avail 180 days of maternity leave.
Likewise, a commissioning father who is a state government employee with less than two surviving children will be eligible to avail 15 days leave within six months from the date of the child’s birth.
