Ahead of all nation-wide mock drill in view of the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan post terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a special of the National Security Guard (NSG) on Tuesday held series of discussions with senior officials of Puri Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
This development comes amid rising concerns over the safety of the 12th-century shrine, which witnesses a massive influx of devotees and tourists throughout the year.
The NSG team is currently engaged in discussions with senior officials responsible for the temple's security.
Sources indicate that the team is closely examining the existing security infrastructure, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and exploring advanced protective measures to safeguard the temple premises and its visitors.
Prior to this visit, the NSG had already conducted preliminary discussions with the district police. Further detailed deliberations are scheduled with the Superintendent of Police (SP), Puri, to chalk out an actionable plan for enhanced surveillance and response mechanisms.
