A notorious gang involved in looting people after offering them spiked drinks, food, cigarettes and other things allegedly looted employees of a private bus of Rs 90,000 in Odisha’s Dhenkanal. The miscreants allegedly offered spiked cold drinks and cigarettes to the helper, driver and conductor of the bus before fleeing with the money.

According to sources, the ‘Das & Das’ bus was en route to Bhuban from Jajpur; the miscreants boarded the vehicle after it reached Bhuban and booked the vehicle on the pretext of taking some labourers to Jajpur.

They also offered Rs 1500 in advance to win the confidence of the bus driver and conductor. Later, they offered spiked drinks and cigarettes to the bus employees and fled with the money after they fell unconscious.

Sources said the money belonged to a businessman from Bhuban who had sent it to his business partner in Jajpur. Locals spotted the bus employees in critical condition and admitted them to a local hospital.

“We were filling petrol at a petrol station when they approached us on the pretext of booking the vehicle to ferry a few labourers to Jajpur. They also gave Rs 1500 in advance. Later, they ordered for cold drinks and sent me to buy some cigarettes. They spiked the drinks when I went to buy the cigarettes,” alleged Nabakishore Mallick, one of the bus employees.

When contacted, the bus owner Deepak Kumar Das said, “I received a call from my acquaintances and immediately rushed to the spot and admitted my employees to the hospital. Later, I came to know about the spiked drinks and money loot.”

“I had received mobil worth Rs 90,000 and handed over the money to the bus employees. Later, I came to know about how they were looted,” said businessman Bimbhadhar Tripathy.
