Dreaded criminal injured in police encounter in Angul; 8 criminals shot in 6 encounters within a month

In yet another encounter in Odisha, a notorious criminal, Khirod Nayak, was injured after being shot in the right leg during a police operation in Angul district. The encounter took place near Hanuman Batika under Angul Town Police limits on Saturday.

Khirod, a resident of Chhendipada area, was being tracked by a joint team of Angul Town Police and the Special Squad. On spotting the police, he attempted to escape by hiding in a nearby mango orchard.

According to sources, Khirod opened fire at the police in an attempt to flee, prompting the cops to retaliate. In the exchange of fire, he sustained a bullet injury in his leg and was immediately apprehended.

He is currently undergoing treatment, and further investigation is underway. Police sources confirmed that Khirod has multiple criminal cases pending against him.
