No direct recruitment for Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshay Bahini: Odisha govt issues modalities

There will be no direct recruitment for the Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshay Bahini (SSMSV) and it will be headed by the Puri Superintendent of Police (SP).

According to fresh modalities issued by the Odisha government, the SSMSV will operate as a specialised security force with its headquarters in Puri and ensure safety and security of the Puri Srimandir.

Police personnel shall be posted on deployment tenure basis from the Armed Wing, OSAP, Special Security Battalions, Civil Police and other establishments as the case may be, except the post of Assistant Commandant and above.

The initial tenure of all personnel brought on deployment/deputation basis shall be for three years, which may be extended by one year, a notification issued by the Home Department read.

On completion of their tenure, they shall be replaced by a new group. Notwithstanding the tenure above, a person can be relieved and moved out of SSMSV, if his performance is not found satisfactory or on the administrative ground.

While for the Inspector, Sub-Inspector (Armed) and Haviladar will be deployed from Common Cadre of Armed Wing of State Police of respective rank, Sub Inspector (MT)/Driver Havildar/Driver will be engaged from Police Motor Transport Establishment.

The selection of persons for induction to SSMSV in the rank of SI (Armed), ASI (Armed), Havildar (General) and Sepoy (General) shall be done by a Committee headed by ADGP, Special Armed Police (SAP), Odisha, Bhubaneswar and consisting of three other members, viz., IGP, Central Range, Cuttack, Superintendent of Police, Puri and any other officer nominated by DG & IGP in the rank of IG / DIG / SP / Commandant, the release read.
