No dearth of IT professionals, plans to transform Odisha into leading IT hub
Union Minister of Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw has expressed ambitious plans for the eastern state of Odisha, aiming to transform it into a major hub for information technology (IT) in the coming years.
Underscoring the immense talent and potential of IT professionals of Odisha, Vaishnaw informed to have personally invited various IT sectors to come and explore opportunities in Odisha.
While addressing a gathering during the signing of the MoU between the Centre and Odisha government for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state held at Delhi, Vaishnaw said already discussions have begun with CM Mohan Majhi and chief secretary to outline strategic steps towards achieving technological prominence.

The plan includes significant educational investments, particularly in the semiconductor sector. The minister announced that four educational institutions in the state are commencing semiconductor education initiatives, with proposals to expand this to five additional colleges, enhancing the region's capacity in electronic advancements.
On the infrastructure front, Vaishnaw outlined plans to bolster the state's railway sector, noting that projects worth Rs 73,000 crores are already underway. These developments aim to strengthen Odisha's logistical backbone, supporting broader economic growth.
“Few months back, Odisha people of took a bold step to inch closure towards the path of progress and voted for the double engine government. A lot of initiatives have been already taken by the Centre and recently Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave was held in Bhubaneswar and the delegates were mesmerised by the hospitality and scope for development in the state,” said Vaishnaw.
Apart from health, there is lot of potential for the growth of IT in Odisha. The IT professionals are carved a niche for themselves at the national and international level. Time has come to transform Odisha into a mega IT hub, the Minister added.
