NLU Odisha records Rs 22.5 lakh highest salary package in batch of 2025 placements

In a significant leap forward for legal education in eastern India, the National Law University Odisha (NLUO) in Cuttack has recorded a placement package of Rs 22.5 lakh per annum in the ongoing recruitment cycle for its graduating batch of 2025.

As reported by Bar and Bench, 50 out of 80 students secured positions across top law firms, corporate houses, fellowships, and policy think tanks, signalling growing confidence among employers in the university’s academic ecosystem and talent pool.

Strong Domestic Law Firm Presence

Among the placements secured, 30 students found roles with top-tier domestic law firms. Saraf & Partners emerged as the most prominent recruiter, making five offers.Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Argus Partners followed with three offers each. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, and IndusLaw extended two offers each.

Other reputed firms that recruited from the batch include Khaitan & Co, Trilegal, JSA, Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, Wadia Ghandy & Co, T&S Law, Sagus Legal, and Bose & Mitra, each hiring one student.

Diverse Career Outcomes Across Sectors

Thirteen students were placed in non-law firm roles, including banks, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and advisory firms such as ICICI Bank, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited, and the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA).

Three students chose the public policy route, joining leading think tanks and analytics firms. Notably, two students earned coveted fellowships: one at the Internet Freedom Foundation under its Freedom Innovation Fellowship and another at the PRS Legislative Research’s LAMP (Legislative Assistant to Member of Parliament) programme.

Two more students secured litigation chamber positions, further underlining the variety in the graduating batch’s preferences.

Students Chosen for Fellowships and Global Academia

The batch also saw students make impressive academic strides. Five students secured admissions to prestigious universities such as King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Dubai, Symbiosis Law School, NLSIU Bangalore, and NALSAR Hyderabad.

Two students were selected for the Graduate Impact Leadership Programme at Nation with Namo. 

Notably, the average annual salary offered stood at Rs 14.33 lakh, a figure that positions NLUO among the better-performing national law universities in the country this year.
