New EV policy in Odisha to push for electric vehicles & solar panels
In a significant step towards sustainable development, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo has announced the introduction of a new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy aimed at boosting the use of electric vehicles across government departments.
As per reports, the new EV policy will initially encourage the use of electric vehicles by government employees. The Deputy CM emphasised that officials must lead the change by adopting eco-friendly practices, starting with switching to electric vehicles for daily official use.
In addition to promoting EVs, the Deputy Chief Minister also announced that all government buildings will be equipped with solar panels within the next five years. Emphasis is also being given to the installation of solar panels atop the government quarters.
Both the State and the Union governments will provide incentives for the initiative.
