NDA success: Odisha’s Shrabani Das becomes first girl from state to qualify

In a historic achievement, Shrabani Das, a student of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, has become the first girl from Odisha to qualify for the National Defence Academy (NDA).

The brilliant mind has become the first Odia girl to clear the SSB exam for Sashastra Seema Bal and secure a spot at the prestigious National Defence Academy. This remarkable feat has made the entire state proud.

Shrabani cleared the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview for entry into the NDA, marking a significant milestone in Odisha’s participation in India’s defence services, especially by female candidates.

Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida extended her heartfelt congratulations to Shrabani, calling her success an inspiration for youth aspiring to serve the nation. “It is a matter of immense pride that Shrabani Das has qualified for NDA, becoming the first girl from Odisha to do so. May she rise further in her service to the nation,” she stated.

“It was a very difficult journey. I was at home throughout the year to prepare for my 12th Boards. I had put on some weight. So, I had to lose weight; wake up in the morning to run and exercise. Many times I have injured my leg," Shrabani stated.

“Even during SSB in the five-day period, I twisted my leg. I specifically want to convey it to all the girls who have interest in NDA, you will be very empowered as a person. Operation Sindoor was also led by women. Women are also getting permanent commission after 2022. So, we should spread awareness," she added.

Shrabani’s accomplishment is not just a personal triumph but a beacon of motivation for other young girls in the state who aim to join the armed forces. Her selection into the NDA is being widely celebrated across social and political circles in Odisha.
