Maintaining silence over the brutal assassination of Odisha health minister and senior BJD leader Naba Kishore Das, DGP Sunil Bansal on Thursday evaded questions by OTV on the investigation in the case so far.

The DGP refused to comment on the matter when OTV journalist tried to seek his reaction on the sensitive case during a programme held in Bhubaneswar.

The only statement that the DGP gave and left from the venue was, “Not now”. The silence of the top Odisha cop on the high-profile murder of a cabinet minister even after five days of the incident has not gone down well with many.

In another development, the Crime Branch of Odisha police on Thursday recovered a dozen handwritten letters allegedly dumped by accused Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Gopal Krushna Das in the septic tank of the Jharsuguda Airport Police station.

As per reports, Police recovered at least 12 letters from the sewage tank. Meanwhile, the recovery of letters from the sewage tank has also raised several questions.

It is not clear whether the accused ASI Gopal Das had written these letters after he was brought to the police station following arrest or it were written earlier? As Gopal was apprehended soon after he fired at Health Minister Naba Das, question remains was he not frisked while he was being taken to the police station?

Similarly, from where Gopal managed to get pen and paper and why nobody saw him writing the letters if already pen and paper were available with him? Whether the letters recovered from the sewage tank are in proper condition even after four days and whether the recovered material was written by Gopal?

The Crime Branch needs to come up with concrete answers to such pertinent questions which have complicated the Naba Das murder mystery.
