Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jaynarayan Mishra on Thursday claimed that he is more concerned over the security of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal Das, who was recently arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the murder of Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.

While talking to reporters, Mishra said that everybody knows what happened to Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational Mamita Meher murder case, inside jail.

“I am concerned about the security of ASI Gopal Das. Anything can happen to him. I have no faith in Odisha Police. Hence, adequate central force should be provided for security and there is also provision for this,” said Mishra.

The Leader of Opposition further said that there is every possibility that Gopal Das’ family may keep mum owing to political interest and other reasons. But it is absolutely in the state’s interest and security that the Odisha government recommends a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“The State government will be entirely responsible if anything happens to the ASI Gopal Das,” warned Mishra.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch is likely to take the accused ASI Gopal Das to the spot for recreating the crime scene. The investigating agency has taken Gopal on a four-day remand.

In the latest development, the Crime Branch today recovered a dozen handwritten letters thrown into the septic tank of the Jharsuguda airport police station by accused Gopal Krushna Das.
