Mystery deepens around missing doctor in Odisha's Malkangiri; family appeals for action

Two days have passed by, but there is no information regarding the whereabouts of Doctor Alman Bhoi who has been allegedly kidnapped from his official quarters. Alman was posted at Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC) in Malkangiri district.

Some unidentified miscreants allegedly abducted Alman soon after he reached his quarters after completing his duty on June 1, 2024. Amlan hails from the Tikabali area in the Kandhamal district. His family met the Kandhamal Collector and SP in Phulbani and urged the senior officials to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.

"We are yet to get any information. His mobile phone is also switched off. We have urged the authorities to take appropriate steps in the matter," said Alman's father Abani Bhoi.

Amlan's uncle said, "We have met senior administrative and police officials. They have assured to take discuss the matter with Malkangiri officials in this regard."

It is pertinent to mention here that Amlan had reportedly picked up a dispute with some people regarding a post-mortem some days prior to his alleged kidnapping.

Mystery shrouds over the entire incident as Maoist involvement is also suspected behind the doctor's kidnapping. However, clarity is yet to emerge in connection with the incident.

Sources said Alman had withdrawn money from one ATM some hours prior to his mysterious disappearance. 

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities could not be contacted over the matter.
