Amid the ongoing political blame game over the death of prime accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, wife of Gobinda Sahu has brought murder allegations.
Speaking to the media, she alleged, Sahu has been murdered. "He was a mentally strong person. He can never take such a step," she said.
She further alleged that a proper plan was hatched to eliminate Gobinda Sahu to destroy all the evidence related to the Mamita Memher murder case.
Besides, Opposition parties in Odisha have also alleged murder of Sahu with the BJP terming the murder as a plan to give clean chit to Dibya Shankar Mishra.
The BJP also demanded a high-level probe to find out whether he was killed or forced to commit suicide.
"Former minister Dibya Shankar Mishra had promised his release, but reneged on his words. We suspect it's a murder, not suicide. A CBI probe can only find out the truth," said Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja.
Earlier today, Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal ordered a Crime Branch probe into the death of Gobinda Sahu.
On Tuesday, Sahu attempted to end his life inside Kantabanji jail in Bolangir district by hanging himself. He was immediately rushed to a hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.
