Puri MP proposes to make Srimandir’s dry prasad available at major railway stations in Odisha

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Puri MP Sambit Patra proposes to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to make Srimandir's dry prasad available at major Odisha railway stations.

Srimandir

Puri MP and BJP National spokesperson Sambit Patra has placed a proposal before the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting him to make arrangements for the availability of dry prasad (sukhila bhoga) of Srimandir at major railway stations in Odisha.

Patra suggested that the Union Minister for Railways should hold discussions regarding the feasibility of delivering dry ‘prasad’ with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) as well as all other stakeholders such as the temple priests, Mukti Mandap and the Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb.

Panda said it has been a wish of people travelling through Odisha to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath and take Lord’s prasad back home. But, due to some constraints, most devotees are finding it difficult to fulfil their wishes. The arrangement would enable them to get the holy bhoga of Lord Jagannath even without visiting Srimandir in Puri.

“Anyone travelling to or through Odisha wishes to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath but this aspiration is not always realised due to schedule and other constraints. Such people then wish to at least take the Lord’s holy bhog back home,” said Patra.

Patra suggested that if the temple administration, in collaboration with the servitors, could arrange for well-organised distribution centres at major railway stations in Odisha and make dry prasad available for pilgrims,  this could ease the difficulties faced by pilgrims.

If the MP’s proposal is put into practice, devotees of Lord Jagannath across India will soon find it easier to bring sacred offerings home, with a spiritual experience to be cherished lifelong.
