BJP MP and former Union Minister Pratap Sarangi, who was admitted to the Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital (FMMCH) in Balasore following chest pain, was discharged on Tuesday. For better treatment, he has been referred to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

“For the last seven to eight days, I had been visiting the hospital as I was experiencing chest pain. I was also on medication. But I ran high temperature the day before yesterday. I visited the hospital yesterday and on the advice of the doctors, I got admitted. Today they (the doctors) have referred me to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar,” said the Parliamentarian.

While speaking to journalists, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Balasore, Dr Dulalsen Jagdev said, “His health condition is stable. He is insisting that he is doing well and there is no need to go to AIIMS. But since he is our MP, we are praying for his speedy recovery. We are referring him to AIIMS because he is a heart patient and will have better facilities there. The district administration is also in favour of referring to the premier health institute. We have taken all the steps to shift him. A doctor team from the FMMCH and other officials are accompanying him.”

Notably, two days ago the parliamentarian complained of cold and cough. He was taken to the FMMCH following the illness. However, he was shifted to the ICU facility at 6 pm yesterday after he complained of chest pain and weakness.

Notably, Sarangi had tested positive for Covid-19 in October 2021.
